Daily Bulletin: Monday Nov. 17

Asset managers and institutional investors have been looking increasingly at swaptions on Eurostoxx 50 repo in a bid to limit losses. The moves follow the development of swaptions on equity repo recently by Société Générale. It seems the instruments are being favored by investors given current trades on repo typically involve large notionals. In Europe, investors are moving away from options on the Russian Depository Index, focusing instead on the USD/RUB fx market, while flow in the US today saw large call positions taken on Microsoft as a dividend play. In the People & Firms section, Donald Sussman’s Paloma has nabbed a Carlyle Group portfolio manager.
