We talk to one U.S. pension fund today looking to add internal volatility mechanisms sometime in the future, while also targeting risk premia in a bid to lower management fees. However, push back by the fund’s portfolio managers, who prefer to allocate externally, is causing delays to any changes. Meanwhile in Europe, ABN AMRO Clearing is to offer clearing services for Eurex’ Eurostoxx 50 variance futures from tomorrow. The move increases price transparency and clearing capabilities for SX5E variance futures. In the people and firms section, Peter Fors, the ex-co-head of global markets index structuring at Nomura in London, has joined Foxberry, an index management company that provides structuring, analysis and technology covering sophisticated financial indices.
