Daily Bulletin: Tuesday Nov. 4
Nov 4, 2014
Option volumes were subdued on Tuesday as mid-term congressional elections were in full swing in the U.S. to decide what party will control the Senate. Of the option flow, we look specifically at the Market Vectors Oil Service exchange-traded fund, which has seen both short- and long-term put flow during today’s session. In single stocks, Intel and Pfizer saw call option flow, with the Dec-14 31.0 calls for USD0.20 finding the most traction in the latter. In the vanilla and light exotics market, we focus on how hedge funds and institutional investors have been monetizing their S&P 500 protection in recent weeks. In Europe, we take a glance at the Polish domestic derivatives market, and how the introduction of listed single stock options will lead to an increase in liquidity. We also summarize the major news and developments of the day, including the launch of the Eaton Vance Global Macro Capital Opportunities Fund and Vontobel’s expansion of its electronic structured product team in Asia Pacific.
