The sustained rally in Hong Kong equity has many investors looking east again. The city’s markets have been given a shot in the arm by the recent Shanghai-Hong Kong Connect scheme, which has made it easier for mainland money to flow into the H-shares market. With word spreading the scheme is set for expansion into China’s other financial hubs, such as Shenzhen, investors are looking at more bullish options strategies lately in a bid to get a piece of the action. Meanwhile in the U.S., we talk to one pension fund in the Midwest who’s taking a cautious approach to the equity markets, looking at U.S., Euro var swaps and dipping a toe into index put spreads and fx puts on USD/EUR. In flow, Apple saw a massive print just before the bell today, totaling about 400,000 contracts, representing about 10 million shares.
