Apple was the focus in the single stock option market on Wednesday afternoon, seeing significant call option volume, while the SPDR S&P 500 exchange-traded fund trust was the underlying of focus in ETF options. According to traders, one investor placed 286k in Dec-14 215 calls for 14.5 cents to position for a spike higher in the ETF. BGC’s Jared Woodard analyses some large bearish trades in volatility-linked products today, while EQDerivatives’ Peter Thompson reports from the FIA Expo on how exchange chiefs see the potential for wider bid/ask spreads and reduced liquidity if capital charges are implemented.
