Daily Wrap – Unpacking CBOE’s SKEW, Bringing Options To ETMFs

It’s on to December after the U.S. Federal Reserve’s Federal Open Market Committee announced they were leaving interest rates unchanged. In today’s coverage, we look at the Chicago Board Options Exchange’s SKEW Index, which has reached record levels the last two months, including five of its 16 highest totals. The index is supposed to measure the potential for tail risk events, however, a volatility strategist suggests simpler alternatives to inform trades. In ETF Trading, Navigate Fund Solutions is looking to clone existing options-based mutual funds in non-transparent exchange-traded mutual funds. EQDerivatives has announced the sellside winners of its Global Equity & Volatility Derivatives Awards, including Sheldon Natenberg who will receive the Outstanding Contribution Award. The awards ceremony is scheduled for March 2016 in New York.
