Mid-Weekly: Interest Rate Interest, AQR Collects EQD Awards, CBOE RMC
Mar 15, 2017
The Fed’s interest rate hike today was met with a pretty feeble market response, signaling that the traditional volatile knee-jerk response to higher rates could be coming to an end. According to market participants, the greater interest seemed to be on oil and crude prices. At least one VIX trader, however, was seen today betting on higher equity vol with a decent sized spread trade. In EQD news, our second annual awards ceremony was held this week, with AQR taking home this year’s headline Global Alternative Manager of the Year award. The firm also picked up the Short Vol Fund Manager of the Year award and the Risk Premia Manager of the Year. Don’t forget to check out the agenda for this year’s Global EQD conference, which will be held at the Wynn in Vegas over May 24 and 25.
