Steady Stock Decline Limits Vol Upside

The steady and continuous decline in the Standard & Poor’s 500 over the last two weeks has limited the upside potential for implied volatility. In contrast to the move in February, led by the vol market, there has been limited options buying by market participants and that is dampening the Cboe Volatility Index’s reaction to the stock market selloff.
