​U.S. Alternate Strategies See Super Upside, Down Under

Australia is home to the world’s fourth largest pool of pension fund money, behind the U.S., U.K. and Japan. Its USD1.54 trillion of assets is monolithic in scale, its allocations are grounded in tradition and it is glacial in its acceptance of new strategies. A new regulation, however, is forcing the country’s superannuation funds to change and overseas alternative funds and strategies are taking notice. Daniel O’Leary reports on what could be a potentially lucrative market for the world’s alternative managers.
