Weekly Bulletin: May 11 – 15

May 15, 2015

We finish out the week looking at structured annuity underlying innovation, which could potentially be seen this year from insurance firms. Some firms are using the products as hedges against their much more popular fixed index annuities business, but the structures have been beset with some challenges since the first was launched in the U.S. in 2010. We also talk today with the CBOE about plans for its MSCI contracts. Volatility is on the way, but liquidity first needs to increase. In Asia, UBS is seeing increased interest in Actively Managed Certificates, where asset managers outsource the execution and administration of investment portfolios to investment banks like UBS which in turn issues a delta one note that provides investors exposure to the performance of the portfolios, net of fees. Our inaugural U.S. equity conference is next week in Las Vegas. There’s still time to sign up to hear the latest EQD and vol thinking from 36 South, AIG, Caxton, Gladius, Koch Industries, Ontario Teachers and a host of other top officials. Go to eqderivatives.com/events and see you there!
