Weekly: Google Impacts Var Swaps, SPY Jelly Rolls, DB & Leonteq Team Up
Jul 24, 2015
It may be the summer lull in the northern hemisphere, but it definitely seems like a risk on environment is returning, particularly in single stock options. With volatility again getting crushed post the Greek and China outcomes, stock selection seems like the smart play, especially with a number of firms in the U.S. beating quarterly earnings expectations. Those same U.S. investors are also looking abroad to Japan, trading levered simple upside call and upside quanto option structures on Japanese benchmarks. Also in the U.S., this week saw the start of VIX weekly trading. The market seems primed for this, with the first day recording about 200 contracts being executed. In Europe, Deutsche Bank and Leonteq have entered into a new cooperation for the origination and distribution of structured investment products. The cooperation will see Leonteq expand its services to clients by offering them access to the products of Deutsche Bank on its automated platform. Deutsche Bank, meanwhile, will gain exposure to new client segments where Leonteq has an established presence.
