Weekly Regulatory Roundup: 27—31 October
Oct 31, 2014
This week, we round up global regulatory developments relating to the derivatives market, including the Italian regulator’s decision to ban the creation of new net short positions on shares and related instruments in Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena and Banca Carige, as well as look at the market reaction to ESMA’s consultation on counterparty risk for UCITS users of OTC derivatives. In the U.S., we look at a speech from the SEC’s Norm Champ related to complex products, and a move from the CFTC to extend the time limit, no-action relief to futures commission merchants.
