Ben Samild

Ben Samild is head of alternatives at the Future Fund, joining in October 2013. He is responsible for the strategy of the alternatives portfolio and is a member of the Future Fund Investment Committee. Ben joined the Future Fund as a director after a 10-year career in the hedge fund industry, and four years as head of investment strategy at industry super fund LUCRF Super.  Ben completed a six-year undergraduate degree at the University of Melbourne majoring in behavioral finance, psychology and history. After university, he was employed as a research fellow within the psychology department where the work of his group was supported by investors in the U.S. These investors later employed the group to run a systematic global macro hedge fund. Ben completed a master’s in applied finance while leading the research at the Connecticut-based hedge fund.
