Benjamin Mandel

Benjamin R. Mandel is head of research at Jubarte Capital, an independent asset manager based in São Paulo, Brazil. He is also an adjunct professor of Economics at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Relations (NY) and Insper (Brazil). At Jubarte, Ben develops and manages global multi-asset strategies. The firm’s investment philosophy centers around the analysis of the Brazilian and global business cycles, leveraging Ben’s experience as a global economist and strategist in both the private and public sector. Prior to Jubarte, he was head of portfolio strategy at Itaú Asset Management and a global strategist at J.P. Morgan Asset Management. He began his career as an economist in the International Finance division at the Federal Reserve Board and, subsequently, the International Research group at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Ben’s academic research has been published in leading scholarly journals, including: American Economic Review, American Economic Journal: Macroeconomics, American Economic Journal: Economic Policy, Quantitative Finance and the Journal of Economic Perspectives. He has held adjunct faculty positions at NYU Stern School of Business and Georgetown University, as well as various consultancy roles for the World Bank. Ben holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, Davis and a B.Sc. in Applied Economics from Cornell University.
