Brendan Walsh Ph.D.,  is a senior vice president portfolio manager in the Franklin Templeton Multi Asset Solutions group (FTMAS). He has managed multi asset outcome orientated funds for over 14 years and is currently leading the design and launch of Franklin Templeton’s UK fund offerings.

Brendan, in conjunction with the wider solutions group, employs a top down bottom up macro approach with a strong focus on risk and portfolio construction. The investment process blends fundamental, global macro, quantitative and illiquid strategies to deliver highly diversified portfolio’s that are robust to market volatility and seek to take advantage of market mispricing’s, long term macroeconomic trends and various risk premia. The investment universe covers the full spectrum of assets from physical stocks and bonds to volatility and illiquid securities. The group is also sponsoring a Fintech Ph.D. program focusing on machine learning and neural nets with the University of Edinburgh.

Prior to joining Templeton, Brendan worked at Aviva investors where he helped design launch and manage the AIMs suite of outcome orientated funds which grew from £100mio to £13bio in the space of 4 years. Prior to this, he was one of the original members of the Standard Life Investments Multi Asset group which launched the GARS fund in 2008.

Brendan holds a bachelor’s in geophysics and a doctorate in Seismic Exploration from The University of Edinburgh. In addition, he is an accredited risk manager.
