Fred Belak

Fred Belak started his career trading currency options for O’Connor & Associates, a leading derivatives firm, later bought by Swiss Bank. At SBC he helped start their first hedge fund in 1993, SBC Currency Fund. He moved to Barclays Bank and managed their Singapore office during the Asian crisis, returning to the SBC fund as a PM in 1999, where he helped regrow the AUM back to $2B+. The fund was nominated for the Eurohedge Best Macro fund award from 2000-2002. Fred has also held senior roles in the JPM CIO, at Lombard Odier, and at Robeco.
In 2019 Fred joined a new Single Family office, set up their asset allocation framework and manages currency and asset class exposures outside of direct equity. He has added direct farmland investing and liability finance funds to the family’s overall exposures. Fred holds a B.A. in Economics and an MBA from Cornell University.
