Linus Franngard, managing director, is the head of product research and innovation for the factors, sustainability and solutions group in BlackRock Systematic (BSYS). In this capacity, Linus leads the research and development lifecycle for bespoke systematic investment solutions across data evaluation, signal research, implementation, and portfolio design. Linus is a senior portfolio manager for select global equity strategies and a subject matter expert in thematic investing, life sciences, and data modeling for private markets.

Prior to assuming his current responsibilities, Linus was a senior researcher and portfolio manager with BlackRock’s systematic active equity (SAE) investment group. Within SAE, Linus contributed to the research and implementation of systematic active hedge fund and long-only strategies, including the application of machine learning, alternative data, and macroeconomic insights.

Linus’ service with the firm dates back to 2006, including his years with Barclays Global Investors (BGI), which merged with BlackRock in 2009. At BGI, he was responsible for equity research, focusing on EMEA portfolios. Linus earned a Master of Science degree in industrial management and engineering and a Bachelor of Science in economics from Lund University in Sweden.
