Mohan Balachandran

Mohan Balachandran is the senior managing director of the multi-asset strategies group at
the Teacher Retirement System of Texas, where he leads the alternative risk premia effort and
quantitative equity portfolio management.  In addition, he oversees the fixed income, commodity and special opportunities portfolios and leads the Trust’s strategic asset allocation studies.  Mohan is a member of the investment and management committees of the Trust.  Prior to joining TRS, Mohan was a director at NISA Investment Advisors, LLC in St. Louis, where he was co-head of the fixed income trading and responsible for investments and risk management/performance attribution. Prior to his role at NISA, Mohan worked as a software engineer at Barra, Inc. where he worked on the fixed income risk management platform.

Mohan received his Ph.D. and Sc. M. in physics from Brown University. He also has a bachelor’s degree in engineering physics from the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay, India.
