Takenori Sugimatsu is head of investment planning office at Dai-ichi Life Insurance Company.
Takenori started his career with Dai-ichi life Insurance Company in 2007 and joined Mizuho-DL Financial Technology in 2010. As a financial engineer, he conducted a wide range of quantitative analysis projects; complex derivative pricing, developing dynamic hedging strategies and modelling dynamic policyholder’s behavior. In 2015, he moved to London and joined Dai-ichi Life International (Europe) focusing on analysing impacts on Dai-ichi Life group by introducing new capital regulations and accounting standards, i.e., Solvency II, Insurance Capital Standard and IFRS 9/17. When he came back to Tokyo in 2020, he was assigned to lead Dai-ichi Life’s group pension business and contributed recovering the capital efficiency. Takenori has been responsible for asset allocations of the general account in Dai-ichi Life, with an AUM exceeding USD200 billion, investment profit/loss managements and fund investments including QIS since 2022.
Takenori has a master’s degree in mathematical and computing science from Institute of Science Tokyo, MBA in finance from Hitotsubashi University and MBA from London Business School.
