Tim Sweeney

Tim Sweeney serves as the head of public markets at TMRS, overseeing the hedge fund and global public equity portfolios. Prior to joining TMRS in 2020, Tim spent 10 years at Balyasny Asset Management, a $20b global multi-strategy hedge fund. In 2016, he relocated to London and built their global macro trading desk before overseeing all European Trading. He joined Balyasny in 2009, holding cross-asset trading roles in Chicago and New York. Tim started his career at Lehman Brothers in 2004 where he worked in emerging market fixed income sales. His investing experience began at the University of Connecticut’s student-managed endowment fund where he graduated with a Bachelor’s in Finance. Tim also holds the CAIA designation.
